Monday One-to-one correspondence:
Materials: Kinetic Sand, Seasonal foam stickers (or other small objects)
Activity: Kick off the week with a Halloween twist! 🎃 Hide foam stickers in the sand for the children to find. As they uncover the stickers, have them count how many they discover and share how many are left.
Tuesday Shapes and their Attributes:
Materials: Scissors, glue, construction paper
Preparation: Make treasure chests (can do this as a craft together) and cut out different shapes of various sizes, including scalene, isosceles, and equilateral triangles.
Activity: Dive into shape sorting! ✂️🟠 Provide treasure chests for the children to sort the shapes, helping them understand that all triangles belong to the same family and that size does not change the shape.
Wednesday Patterns and Logic:
Materials: Recycled materials
Activity: Encourage creativity as the kids use recycled materials to build structures! ♻️🛠️ Promote problem-solving skills by allowing them to work together to see what they can create.
Thursday Big vs Small Measurement:
Materials: Rocks that you find on a walk, or other materials.
Activity: Focus on "big" vs "small" by taking the children outside to find rocks. 🪨📏 Have them order the rocks from smallest to largest, sparking conversations about measurement and comparison.
Friday Fractions and Half:
Materials: Scissors, construction paper
Activity: Introduce fractions by having the children cut shapes in half! ✂️💖 Engage them in hands-on activities to help them grasp the concept of halves in a fun way.
Saturday Musical Patterns:
Materials: Any musical instrument or other items to make music.
Activity: Allow the kids to explore their musical talents! 🎶✨ Let them express themselves creatively and enjoy the joy of making music.
Sunday Puzzles and Board Games:
Materials: Puzzle
Activity: Wrap up the week with family puzzle time! 🧩🤝 Encourage teamwork and strengthen problem-solving skills as everyone works together to complete the puzzle.
What a week of math adventures awaits! 🌈📚
