WELCOME

Welcome to the Free Preschool Math Curriculum!

We’re excited to introduce a comprehensive, play-based curriculum designed to give your child a strong foundation in math, while keeping the learning experience fun and flexible. Each week, you’ll find new activities released every Friday, with a summary posted online and the full descriptions available on our blog.

This structure allows you to easily plan ahead and prepare for a week of engaging and educational math-based activities.

Curriculum Overview

Our curriculum is designed with progression in mind, starting from introductory concepts and building up to skills that surpass typical kindergarten standards. By following along, your child will gain a significant head start in math, ensuring that they not only meet but exceed early learning expectations.

The curriculum focuses on different areas of math each day of the week:-

Monday: Numeracy – We’ll explore numbers and counting in a variety of creative and hands-on ways, from games and stories to practical everyday math skills.

Tuesday: Geometry – Your child will investigate shapes, spatial relationships, and early concepts of symmetry, all while having fun and playing.

Wednesday: Patterns & Logic – Patterns are a crucial element of mathematical thinking. Through pattern recognition and problem-solving games, we’ll strengthen their logical reasoning.

Thursday: Measurement – Size, weight, length, and volume are all fun concepts to explore through play. We’ll measure objects, compare sizes, and begin to understand basic units of measure.

Friday: Fractions – Even at a young age, children can begin to understand parts of a whole. Our playful approach introduces fractions in a natural, enjoyable way.- Saturday: Musical Patterns

The Weekend

On Saturdays we’ll introduce musical patterns to keep math exciting and foster creativity, blending math with music through rhythm and repetition.- Sunday: Puzzles & Board Games

Sundays are for family time! We’ll focus on puzzles and board games that not only bring families together but also build problem-solving and strategy skills.

Why Math Every Day?

Math is an expansive subject, with so much more to explore than just counting and shapes. Many early childhood curriculums focus solely on these areas, but we believe in challenging our children’s abilities by introducing them to a broader range of mathematical topics. With the right approach, even young children can grasp concepts like logic, measurement, and fractions, all while having fun.

What Sets This Curriculum Apart?

1. Play-Based Learning: This curriculum doesn’t rely on worksheets or drills. Instead, each activity is designed to feel like play, fostering a love of learning and curiosity in math.

2. Flexibility: Whether you’re a homeschool parent with a structured routine or a working parent with limited time each day, this curriculum is flexible enough to fit your schedule. You can adapt the activities based on your day. If your family trip to the zoo falls on a Tuesday, incorporate a geometry activity by looking for shapes in the animals’ enclosures, or use a tangram puzzle during your car ride.

3. Adaptable for Ages 2-5: While the curriculum is ideal for preschool-aged children, it’s highly adaptable. If your child is 2 and just beginning their math journey, or 5 and ready for more challenging tasks, you can adjust the activities to suit their level.

4. No Worksheets, Just Fun: We believe in hands-on, experiential learning. Children learn best when they’re engaged and having fun. Our activities are crafted to encourage active participation, whether it’s through games, building blocks, or outdoor exploration.

Getting Started

We recommend starting on Monday with numeracy activities, but feel free to adapt the order based on your family’s needs and schedule. The important thing is to stick with the weekly unit plan and objectives, while using the activities as a flexible guide.

Each week, we’ll provide detailed descriptions of the activities, as well as suggestions for adapting them to fit your child’s unique interests and abilities. The goal is to build confidence and excitement about math, while fostering skills that will serve your child for years to come.We look forward to being part of your child’s learning journey!

Be sure to check back each Friday for the week’s new activities, and follow along with us on our blog for tips, insights, and additional resources.

Happy learning and playing!
